“Do the things you are afraid to do. Do the things that feel big. Do the things that show what you’re made of. You have the power to step into your magnificence.” - Cleo Wade

Laurie began practicing yoga in her teens, but her practice did not become consistent until her 30s. At first, yoga was a way to build and maintain strength, flexibility and balance, but she has since discovered that it brings calm, balance and clarity to a life too often filled with stress and anxiety. It has allowed her to let go of self-doubt and the pieces of the past that no longer serve. Her mat is where she comes to find her center and discover peace and contentment in the present, allowing her to find a gentle and peaceful path to health and wellness. In the summer of 2020 Laurie completed her 200 - hour yoga certification, a transformative journey, and her passion is to help her students to know that there is a way out of dis-ease and that yoga can be a path to health and wellness as we age.

Yoga has also been instrumental in keeping Laurie on the path of sobriety for the past 15 years, helping her to let go of the feelings of shame associated with addiction, and teaching her to live in the present moment. She is passionate about removing the stigma of addiction and has completed Y12SR training - Yoga for 12-Step Recovery, which aligns the practicality of the 12 steps, with the ancient wisdom of yoga. She currently teaches a weekly Y12SR class at the Enlightened Living Center and it has become another step on her journey of healing. She continues to expand her knowledge on the role of healing yoga plays in addiction and recovery, and is starting the journey towards receiving her Mind and Body Recovery certification through Yogafit.
